14th August 2016

The QLD State Cyclocross Championships were held in Nundah on Sunday 14th August 2016. And while the sun was shining, the riders had a tough course ahead of them. Long grass, obstacles and of course mud. Mud, mud glorious mud!

The kids kicked the day off, with balance bikes, U7 and U13 completing 1 - 3 laps of the course. The enthusiasm of these riders pre-race was awesome and watching these guys was rad. HEALTH WARNING: We suspect a few parents may have had lower back pain after helping their kids (on balance bikes) around the track. No one said Cyclocross was for the faint hearted!

The C grade men's and combined C/B women's went next, racing for 30 minutes. B grade men's and A grade women's followed with a 45 minute race and by the time the A grade men started their 60 minute race, the creek was well muddy and great for spectating.

While there was rumour of a snake by the creek (a.k.a mud pit) earlier in the day, by the time the cow bells, loud speaker and general heckling had taken place, there was no sign of the snake (Phew!)

Congratulations to all the men, women and kids who smashed it on the day, you were inspiring to watch. Bring on the 2017 season!
