ABOUT US

Our story is more of a journey, because we’ve never been good at sitting still. For almost half a century, our trusted solutions have transformed the way people travel.  We’re leaders in our category – packing heritage, safety and design smarts into every product.

From trailblazing beginnings on opposite sides of the globe, our paths ultimately converged to form the unified Yakima of today – standing proud, but grounded as ever.

With local operations in Queensland, Australia and global HQ in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, USA), the outdoors is always at our doorstep – from valleys and peaks to coastlines and campgrounds. Alongside our network of respected retailers, we give people the freedom to wander, the right to be unruly, and the confidence to go more rogue.

GLOBAL HERITAGE

While the name traces back to a small machine shop in our namesake city in Washington state, our DNA was shaped just as much by Kiwi ingenuity and Aussie grit as it was by American spirit.

Hardcore kayakers, Steve Cole and Don Banducci, acquired Yakima in 1979 and put us on the world stage kitting out race vehicles at the 1984 Summer Olympics.

LOCAL ROOTS

Our journey down under began in 2010 when Yakima joined forces with New Zealand based Hubco Automotive, known worldwide for their revolutionary aerodynamic roof racks. Our local crew crossed the ditch to Australia in 2012 and made their mark in the offroad space, innovating and influencing our global line-up.

Today, Yakima continues to lead the category we helped establish decades ago, with the same enthusiasm for the widest skies and the open road around the globe. Whether you're bound for the coast, the campground, the trails or a tradie run, we carry what matters to you.

Take It Easy.
