Yakima Australia can add two mountain biking legends to their team after signing Bec Henderson and Paul van der Ploeg as ambassadors ahead of the 2014 UCI World Cup series in Cairns.
With several competitions across the country this year, Paul and Bec travel extensively and Yakima will provide transport equipment needed to carry their bikes to championships.
Paul van der Ploeg says his sponsors play a crucial role in supporting his passion.
“It’s great being involved with a company that’s passionate about the sport I’m involved with and designs equipment specifically for mountain bikers. It’s really refreshing,” says Paul.
“Having high quality products is a big advantage as I travel around Victoria quite a lot with different competitions.”
Bec Henderson, who is currently competing in the UCI MTB World Cup in South Africa, says the new sponsorship deal is a perfect match.
“I’m pretty lucky to have the sponsors I do, it’s really important to be able to even do your sport. Yakima is really good because bike transportation is a big part of getting around,” says Bec.
“My partner and I travel long distance around Australia, so we drive a lot and car accessories are a really big help when you consider that.”
Yakima Brand Manager Chris Lyons says the company is proud to have two young and extremely talented mountain bikers on the team.
“We’re all about enjoying the outdoors and having a great time. Both Paul and Bec fit our philosophy so well and we’re really excited to have them on board,” says Mr Lyons.
Yakima distributes versatile, easy-to-use and robust systems used to transport gear such as bikes, kayaks, skis, cargo, and camping equipment; safely and simply.
